What the heck is Equine Assisted Yoga???

First of all, NO HORSE RIDING will take place. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO FULLY ENJOY THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Let me explain. Upon arrival, you will spend time just hanging out with the horses in their various spots on the farm, landing in the environment and transitioning into the welcoming energies of the property. After some time in transition, feeling more connected to the land and the horses, you will experience the sublime energy of hanging out with horses, while practicing fully accessible chair yoga, in an open air, shady space.

Stage Road Farm is a unique space, invites therapeutic interaction with horses and specializes in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Horses (who, by the way, are never ridden, only loved and cared for like our own domesticated cats and dogs) are comfortably in our midst, with specialized attention and facilitation, so that all are safe and at ease. Our yoga practice grounds us while the equine presence and loving energy supports a deeper access to our breath and the present moment.

A guided meditation wraps up our journey with the horses.

Ages 12 and up are welcome.

Here's what you can expect

Fully accessible yoga practice

We'll gather in sacred circle within the covered arena where therapeutically trained horses generously share their space with us. Healix yoga's Emily Wiadro will lead a gentle and fully accessible yoga practice in chairs. Susan Manning will facilitate the horses as they, too, experience our yoga practice. There are full size horses, as well as mini horses, as seen above. Likely, 3-5 horses will be in the space while we practice.

Our time will be spent with the horses, from start to finish. Our practice will include time in silence observing and interacting with the horses. Our chair based yoga practice will include simple poses and breathing practices. We'll play with some toning of our voices and wrap up our practice with a guided meditative journey. All experienced from the comfort of your seat...

There will be short breaks for transitions and opportunity to enjoy a beverage and light snack. Join us for this unique experience in nature. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

Equine Therapy

Susan Manning has a BA in Special Education and is an EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) certified Equine Specialist. Susan is the owner of Stage Road Farm.
